Message from the Chair:
2024 has yet again been a busy year, with lots of highlights to mention. I continue to be amazed at the dedication, hard work and passion that the trial management community demonstrate in their commitment to running high-quality clinical trials. Hearing about your work in forums such as the UKTMN annual conference, the International Clinical Trials Methodology Conference (ICTMC), webinars and forum is fantastic, and I hope you all continue to share your experiences with other members across UKTMN. Sharing expertise is at the heart of UKTMN and was one of the key reasons it was founded, over 25 years ago. If you haven’t connected with members or shared your work with others, please do consider it. Working in clinical trials provides life-long learning and sharing what you have learnt, how you’ve tackled challenges and innovated with others is so important for our community.
I hope you enjoy reading this round-up of 2024 as much as I have. Particular personal highlights include the June annual conference, reviewing some fantastic submissions for Trial Manager of the Year (our flagship award to showcase and recognise the trial management profession), the UKTMN networking event at ICTMC and, more recently, launching the ASPIRE leadership programme, which I am very excited to see come to life in the forthcoming months. 2025 sets to be another action-packed year with lots happening and we’d love you to get involved, so do look out for opportunities where you can contribute across your community.
I’d like to take a moment to thank all members of the UKTMN Executive Group for their ongoing commitment and support to UKTMN and, in particular, welcome new members who have recently joined us. I’d also like to thank members of our independent advisory group, who represent leading groups and organisations across the UK, for their input throughout the year and their ongoing support. If you want to find out more about who is involved, do check out our website. Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank Natalie Wakefield and Tom Daykin, our wonderful UKTMN Manager and Administrator, without whom none of this would happen. Thank you for all your hard work over the last year and I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2025.
I hope you can find 10 minutes to take a break, make a cuppa and have a read through the report. I wish you all a restful break over the festive season and look forward to connecting with you in 2025.
Eleanor Mitchell, UKTMN Chair
